Pickup truck slams into side of Drayton Valley RCMP building

Drayton Valley RCMP staff received a surprise early Wednesday when a stolen pickup truck was driven into the side of the detachment.

The incident happened about 5 a.m., when a Dodge Ram slammed through the overhead door of the detachment's storage bay, causing extensive damage inside.

The male driver allegedly got out of the pickup and walked into the detachment, where he was arrested. RCMP described him as "unco-operative" and said drug use is believed to be a factor in the incident.

The suspect believed to be linked to several prior incidents, including cases of mischief, break and enter into a residence, vehicle theft, and impaired driving, RCMP said.

Charges are pending, though police said they are still investigating.
