Northern Alberta teen faces impaired driving charges after deadly crash

An 18 yr old Fairview man is facing several charges in connection with a northern Alberta crash in May that left a 16 yr old girl dead.

On Tuesday, RCMP said Zackery Dewitz had been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

At around 4:30 a.m. on May 13, police said officers were called to a crash northeast of Fairview on Township Road 822 near Range Road 31.

Mounties said the crash sent Dewitz to hospital. The 16 yr old Fairveiw girl was airlifted to hospital where she later died.

Dewitz is scheduled to appear before the Fairview Provincial Courthouse on Nov.23.
